The Fab Fund

The Fab Fund is a double-bottom line investment fund that seeks market financial returns through investments that empower individuals to create small enterprises and sustainable-livelihood businesses. The Fab Fund focuses exclusively on products and services that enable or are enabled by the democratizing effect of personal fabrication.

The Fab Fund was created to provide access to risk-based capital by the emerging Fab Lab community. This community is rich with inventors using the tools of the Fab Labs to express themselves through innovative product designs that satisfy local needs using locally available materials. These inventors then use these same tools to produce small quantities of their products on demand, greatly reducing the capital needed to test the market demand for their product.

Consistent with the distributed nature of the global Fab Lab community, the Fab Fund will consider investments wherever the promise of achieving both a strong financial and social return is sufficiently demonstrated.

The Fab Fund is the first double-bottom line initiative of the Fab Company.
